Is Orange customer service really THAT difficult to contact?

Orange Contact Number

Marcus Brignall of The Guardian introduces a letter from a reader about the problems he had contacting Orange customer services on behalf of his mother. Since receiving her iPhone 4 six months previously the phone would not receive mobile data, despite her paying a large fee for her data plan which included 500Mb of data.

Mr ‘AB’ Of Billericay went on to say that despite calling Orange over 20 times, every time he has called each operator suggest the same course of action which only temporarily solves the problem and the data starts to drop again after an hour or so. Mr ‘AB’ has also tried to reclaim money and has been disconnected on at least three occasions when attempting to discuss this idea.

The last call, to a operator named ‘Shakeel’ assured MR ‘AB’ that he could solve the problem and then promptly put Mr ‘AB’ on hold for 15 minutes before finally hanging up.

Marcus goes on to say that although EE (the name of the merged Orange/T-Mobile) is advertising a great deal, the customer service Mr AB received is not what the EE’s marketing would have you believe.

Complaints

EE tops the highest complaints about mobile providers and even Ofcom’s customer service satisfaction report of 2013, Orange came bottom of the major providers.

Marcus arranged for a partial refund and a replacement handset but does every person have to write to the Guardian to get a successful conclusion to a Orange customer service enquiry that seems never to be completed.

It may be an idea with customer services to follow some of these ideas:

  • Firstly, ensure that you get peoples names.
  • Note down the time of the call.
  • Note how long the call was for.
  • Keep a record of promises made and timescales.
  • If you are not happy ask to speak with a supervisor.

Hold your ground and if you really feel that nothing is being done then contact Citizens Advice.
