More About Talk Talk

Talk Talk Group Plc also known as Talk Talk is a Telecommunications company that provides fixed line services, broadband internet access, mobile phone services and pay television subscription.

They were originally founded in 2003 and were a division of CarPhone Warehouse until they separated and was established in March 2010.

Over the years since they were born their product range has increased and diversified. They originally came from a fixed line market providing lines and calls services to residential and business customers. They spent heavily on marketing in the early years to compete with BT by providing cheaper call charges and cheaper line rentals.

In 2004 Talk Talk launched their first broadband services going head to head with BT.

Talk Talk took advantage of the change in the market when providers could un-bundle BT exchanges and provide their own infrastructure to reach their customers. They un-bundled enough exchanges across the UK to have 92% of their customer base completely dependent on their own fibre and network infrastructure.

Since they launched additional services they are now the second company in the UK to provide quadruple play services behind Virgin Media. These products include TV, Broadband, Phone and Mobile all under one bill.

The un-bundling of the local exchange has also allowed Talk Talk to offer wholesale services in the Uk to the network operator market. Wholesale Broadband and Wholesale Ethernet products have enabled Talk Talk to compete on another level with competitors like BT, Virgin, Colt, and Vodafone in the business world.

By enabling certain exchanges with EFM (Ethernet First Mile) capability Talk Talk customers can potentially receive up to 20mb on copper infrastructure with a 5 hour fix. This service competes with BT EFM services. Currently Talk Talk and BT are the largest two EFM providers in the UK.
